The third round of the 2012 US Open Championship is in the books. Another beautiful day for golf in San Francisco lead to some great shots and some high scores. 36-hole co-leaders Tiger Woods and David Toms struggled, while co-leader Jim Furyk, Lee Westwood, and Graeme McDowell excelled on this benign day at Olympic Club.
Woods and Toms shot 75 and 76, respectively, to fall behind a lead that remained at -1. Jim Furyk shot an even par 70 to remain atop the leaderboard. Playing in the third-to-last group, Graeme McDowell fired a -2 68 and is looking to win his second US Open Championship in three years. Also shooting 68 is the man in third place, Frederik Jacobson.
Westwood fired the round of the day, a 67, and is three shots back with three others, including Ernie Els, at +2. Woods is at +4 and five strokes off the lead.
The shot of the tournament goes to John Peterson, who aced hole #13.
