Russell Henley became the first rookie on the PGA Tour to win in the first full-field event of the season in ten years. Henley rode a hot putter to a three-stroke victory over Tim Clark in the Sony Open in Hawaii. With the win, Henley moved to 50th in the Official World Golf Ranking and got exemptions into the Masters, the Players Championship, and the PGA Championship, and also should qualify for the World Golf Championship events.
