2013 Hyundai Tournament of Champions Day 2 Recap

Another day, the same story.  The Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Kapalua, Hawaii was once again postponed.  However, play was never attempted today.  Players waited out the weather in the clubhouse and the caddie house, wasting time and hoping to hear good news on the weather.  But the rain and wind were unrelenting.  Winds maintained their strength at 40 mph with higher speed gusts while the rain never stopped.

Most players were hoping a trip to Hawaii in January would bring good weather and great golf.  But they are still waiting to hit their official first tee shots of 2013.  Ian Poulter kept the viewers up to date with tweets of news from PGA Tour officials and was the first to tell us play was cancelled this afternoon.  The only positives coming from the cancelled play are the great tweets we keep receiving from the players.

PGA Tour officials are planning 36 holes of golf tomorrow with the final 18 coming on the planned tournament end day, Monday.  The scheduled Monday finish hampered the tournament's ability to complete a full 72 holes, as players and technical crews need Tuesday to travel to the next tournament venue.  So the Hyundai Tournament of Champions will be shortened to 54 holes of tournament golf.

Play will begin early tomorrow morning, weather permitting, in Hawaii.  Rickie Fowler and Jason Dufner will try again to get the 2013 PGA Tour season underway.  For all of you fans who've been waiting for the start of the 2013 season, here's to hoping it begins tomorrow.
