The 2012 Travelers Championship is in the books in Hartford, Connecticut. Another low scoring affair saw a 61 fired by Hunter Mahan today, as well as a 62 by first-time PGA Tour winner Marc Leishman. The Aussie held the clubhouse lead for over 3 hours, and did not know his fate until Charlie Hoffman finished Double bogey-bogey to finish one behind.
Leishman's 62 included 8 birdies and no bogeys, and he finished the tournament at 14-under par. Tied for second at a stroke back were 2012 Masters Champion and 2010 Travelers Champion Bubba Watson, who fired a second-consecutive 65, and Hoffman.
With the win, Leishman moves into the 23rd position in the FedEx cup standings. Watson moves to 2nd place, and Mahan remains in 3rd place. Following his win last week at the US Open, Webb Simpson finished in a T29, a respectable showing the week after the biggest win of his life. Simpson plans on skipping the Open Championship to be in America for the birth of his second child. Patrick Cantlay, who turned professional following the US Open, missed the cut in his professional debut. Last year, Cantlay fired a second-round 60 for the tournament-record.
That's all for this week, next week on the PGA Tour is the AT&T National at Congressional Country Club, with many big names in the field including Tiger Woods. Hope you all enjoyed the golf this week from Connecticut! Congrats again to Marc Leishman!
