Three rounds are in the books at The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide Insurance. Muirfield Village has definitely proven to be one of the toughest tests on tour. The winds once again gusted and sent scores soaring on a tough Saturday afternoon.
After three rounds, Spencer Levin has taken a one-shot lead over Rory Sabbatini with his 3-under par 69. Sabbatini, the 36-hole leader, carded a one-under par 71 and will join Levin in the final pairing tomorrow afternoon. Levin had everything going for him today, chipping in for eagle on hole 5 and also chipping in for birdie during the round. He also made numerous par saving putts, including one that looked missed until it hit something and turned back into the hole. Sabbatini struggled on the front nine, going out in 1-over 37, but rallied on the back nine, hitting some excellent shots from bunkers and greenside rough and carded a 34 on the back.
Starting the day 1 back, Tiger Woods had an up-and-down day today, firing a 1-over par 73. He is still struggling with the flu this week and is not at 100% strength. But going into the final round at 4-back, he still has a shot tomorrow. Joining him in the penultimate group with be fan-favorite Rickie Fowler, who has 4 straight top-10 finishes. Fowler carded a 69 today and is at 5-under total. He is three shots back entering the final day of play.
